My Favorite Pass Time

Passing time is something we all need to do sometimes, whether it's because you're bored, to distract yourself, or just to get through the day. Some of my favorite things to do when passing time are, reading a book, watching Netflix, playing Minecraft, or just scrolling through Instagram. I haven't been reading books on my shelf that much lately, but I'm hoping to change that. A few that I have yet to read are, "The Hunger Games" series by Suzanne Collins, "Caraval" by Stephanie Garber, "The strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava Lavender" by Leslye Walton, and a few more by John Green. So I will probably spend a fair share of free time reading those novels.     When I'm not reading, I'm usually watching Netflix, playing my favorite game Minecraft, or just scrolling through Instagram. My current show on Netflix is "Pretty Little Liars" it has eight seasons and I'm only on the fourth so it might take a while to finish...

Working With Nature

Nature is a part of our everyday life. It can refer to different things, the world in general, life itself, all things organic, or many other things. But one thing we know is that nature is a wonder. It's the way we go about our lives. And some may need to work with nature to survive.     Every few years, my family takes my brothers and I on a camping trip, along with other friends and family. In most of these places, there will be no cell reception, so no phone calls allowed, unless you get back on the road. There's no guide on how to build a fire, or catch fish so if you don't know how, you can't just look it up on the internet, you'll just have to figure it out. But those things are pretty self explanatory. Building a fire is pretty easy, my dad once helped me to make one. We used sticks.

#NEVERAGAIN

Why do you think that there are so many more mass shootings than there used to be? Well personally, my opinion on this matter is that the majority of people doing these crimes need mental help. But there is, of course another theory, called the  copycat phenomenon. CNN's article on why the US has the most mass shootings says that  "researchers believe these mass killings can be contagious: One killing or shooting increases the chances that others will occur within about two weeks, an "infection" that lasts about 13 days" This is concerning because there has been countless mass shootings happening lately in the US. But, my opinion that each of them might need mental help might also apply to this. Maybe they didn't have the best childhood or maybe something tragic happened to them before. That doesn't give them the right to act out this way. But before killing tons of people they should get help.     Now what is the one thing causing these mass shoot...

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving: alternate ending

“If I can but reach the bridge,” I thought to myself, “I will be safe”. I gave Gunpowder a kick in the side, as he sped up. I looked back at the horseman, about fifty feet behind us. But then he had done something as unexpected as a flying on a pig. Where he had gotten it from, I had no idea but I watched as he pulled a gun from the side of his horse. Kind of ironic how he aims a gun perfectly without a head but that had not been my concern at the time. He fired the gun as time slowed down and the bullet pierced Gunpowder’s thigh. “Gunpowder!” He fell to the ground as I jumped off just in time. I looked up to see the horseman on our trails, he was gaining on us. I had to make a choice. Leave Gunpowder to die and get away, or stay with Gunpowder and possibly be a dead man. How had we come to this? I ran for dear life. It was me or the horse and I chose to save myself. I started giving up. I couldn’t outrun him, how could I think that I could. He had a horse for god’s sake. What...

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

1. The form of the poem shows that it is traditional because it has four stanzas with four lines in each stanza and their rhyme schemes are similar within each stanza. That is how the form of the poem shows that it is traditional. 2. One example of alliteration that I've found is "To watch his woods fill up with snow". The alliteration in this line is "watch his woods". Another example of alliteration in this poem is "The woods are lovely, dark and deep". And the alliteration in this line is "dark and deep". Those are two examples of alliteration in this poem. 3. The line "And miles to go before I sleep" is repeated twice at the end of the poem. I think this line means that the speaker is miles from his home whereas he’s in the snowy woods and he must ride his horse for miles before reaching his house where he can sleep. This line is repeated twice to create meaning, therefore if it was not repeated then it...
